Georgian Intaglio Ring, 18th Century, Carnelian
Georgian carnelian intaglio armorial seal ring dating from the 18th century. Mounting is a later setting of 14K gold. Total weight is 16.91 grams. The ring came from a British estate and has been in our collection for more than thirty years. As the collection has grown, we now find we need to make some room for newer purchases so we are offering this large and very beautiful ring for sale. At 1-1/8 inches by about 7/8 of an inch it makes a dramatic statement on the hand. Suitable for a man or woman. Armorial seal rings were used instead of signatures on important documents in the time where illiteracy was common. US size 6 - can be resized.
