An unusual Hetian mutton fat jade archer's ring or thumb ring with goat heads on either side. Dates from the mid to late Qing Dynasty. While archer's rings had been used by warriors for centuries in China, by this time period they had become symbols of wealth and status rather than functional items for battle. This may account for the goat heads on either side. Beautiful fatty luster and silky feel. Color is a lardy white with areas of gray. US size 12.5. Approximately 1 inch wide. Weighs 43.8 grams. Archer's rings are usually worn by men but they make wonderful pendants for women when worn on a neck cord. Cord included on request.
