Jade Pendant Necklace, Hetian Nephrite Bell, Qing Dynasty
An antique Hetian nephrite pendant carved in the image of the Sacred Bell. Pale celadon green color, almost white. Please note that different computers may render color differently. Dates from the late Qing era. The pendant has a 14K gold bale and hangs from an adjustable length 18K gold over sterling silver chain. The pendant measures approximately 2 inches long, 1.5 inches wide, and weighs 20.6 grams. It has fine translucence and a beautiful fatty luster and silky feel. In Chinese culture and mythology, bells hold a significant place, symbolizing communication, spirituality, and the connection between the earthly and the divine.
