Spinach Jade Cabbage Carving, Qing Dynasty
Exquisite carving of a spinach color jadeite cabbage. Color is a deep forest green with good translucence. Truly exquisitely carved detailing. Dates from the late Qing Dynasty, 1800s. Can be used as a display piece or could be worn as a pendant hung vertically. Neck cord included on request. Measures approximately 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches and weighs 66.2 grams. The Chinese love and respect for nature is often a catalyst for beautifully rendered carvings of vegetables and fruit as is the case with this beautiful piece. Knowing the difficulty of jade carving it is a tribute to the art of the artisan to have created such a splendid piece.
